для кошек-собак конину продавали, зачастую коней, умерших на улицах ЛОндона, так пишут, и современники жаловались на ужасный запах от таких лавчонок. Полагаю, в голодные времена и сами люди не брезговали этой кониной.
Ну а с началом войны с Германией кошек-собак уничтожали как конкурентов людей в еде.
